When I first met Lisa it was to photograph a styled collaboration for a uniquely South African Christmas party. I’d been following this Mom-Boss on Instagram for a while and could see she had such a passion and eye for bringing people together in a beautiful space. I was so excited when I heard the same creative team would be working together again for Lisa & David’s wedding day – I just knew it was going to be something special!

David & Lisa had a small and intimate wedding celebration in Stellenbosch. Their ceremony was a casual garden set up, beautifully decorated with florals and furniture. The couple’s little boy led the way down the aisle and could barely stop hugging his parents during the ceremony and as they were saying their vows. The smile on this kid’s face stretched ear to ear and stuck around the whole day! 

Treats and live music was enjoyed on the lawn as the day cooled and the sun set. The new Mr and Mrs Grouwstra took some time out for themselves as we went for a walk in the last light of the day.

The setup inside the reception venue was just breathtaking – it was like a magical secret garden, with low hanging florals and moody lights. I loved the unique details and all the different textures and tones. It was the perfect space for family and friends to share a meal together and celebrate the newlyweds. Later that evening, as soon as the cake was cut, David and Lisa took to the dance floor. It was such a special picture to see this little family embracing and dancing together, safe in their own world, surrounded by joy.
