RICHARD & KIMONNE
Saronsberg, Tulbagh

I just love how Kimonne & Richard’s journey started together. After many years of attempting to date and it never really working out, Richard finally asked Kimonne out – at 2 am in the McDonalds parking lot. After this romantic start and as their relationship grew, the two got to discussing marriage. At this point Kimonne was hinting and suspecting every weekend away as a possible proposal opportunity. Yet Richard still managed to surprise her by popping the question in the Newlands forest with a bottle of champagne after a two hour hike! Sweaty, breathless and red-faced, they wouldn’t want it any other way.

Their wedding day was the perfect summer’s day celebration! The main goal was for the guests to have fun – something which the Saronsberg venue and wine made easy. The ceremony was not your usual set up. The couple got married amongst a unique collection of contemporary art and instead of the bride making her way from the back of the aisle, Kimonne made her grand entrance down the stairs from the front.

After a beautiful ceremony with special readings and a song from Kimonne’s grandad, guests made their way outside to enjoy the Saronsberg views. There was a delicious harvest table, craft beer on tap, lawn games and of course wine. As the sun was setting and the air was cooling, we took a stroll around the gardens for some photos before rejoining the festivities.

There was barely a moment throughout the reception where the hall was not echoing with laughter. There was some great dad jokes, stories and anecdotes from all the speeches and even a poem from the bride’s sisters. My favourite bit of marriage advice came from the MC: ‘Stop worrying about who wears the pants in the relationship – marriage works best when neither is wearing pants!’

Mr & Mrs Wright, wishing you all the love & laughter together for years to come!
